My short story with psychedelics

My name is Daniel Federer, and I am formally a psychotherapist in the line of Gestalt. I say in the line of Gestalt, for it is my first experience in the world of therapy. My father suffered from depression since a young age, and I saw him suffer. I felt ok, but when I was about thirty years old, I thought it would be a good idea to have therapy as a way of prevention. My first experience was with a psychoanalyst, which worked with hypnosis. It was not great, but it opened my eyes to a new realm, and I was hooked on getting to know myself better. After that, I had other therapists, from other lines of psychology.

One day a neighbor of mine approached me, and asked me if I would be interested in being a Psychotherapist… I didn´t study psychology, what made her ask me that?… It turned out she saw it in me, she saw that I had what it takes to accompany other people in their process. She was also a teacher in this Gestalt institute, and she wanted to sell me a career. That became one of the best decisions of my life. At that time, I worked for the family business, and I liked it, but I wasn’t passionate about it.

Now, 20 years later I am a certified therapist, and passionate about my work.

That to my story, the “short version”, what I want to talk about is psychotherapy with Psylocibin (also known as magic mushrooms) I began exploring the world of psychedelics like ayahuasca, san Pedro, and LSD, and saw the power this substance has to able to heal our mind and soul. I always say that to be able to heal, first, we have to understand. These plants and substances have a way of showing us what we need to see and heal. That’s also how I got to know the work with mushrooms. Like all the therapies I work with, I try them first on me. I had my session with a colleague who specializes in psilocybin therapy.

Before my session, he explained to me that I had to have a special diet before the session, and on the morning of the session, I had to be fasting. I went that morning to his praxis, which was set in a very comfortable environment. It had a good smell, good lighting, and good decor. Everything was set in a way that I felt comfortable and safe. He explained to me that I was going to receive a high dose of psilocybin mushrooms. The dosage varies from two to Five grams of dried mushrooms.

The dosage depends on many factors, like the size of the patient, experience with other psychedelic substances, mood, and many other factors. I was given a hero dose which means five grams.

After about twenty minutes the effect kicks in, and I felt lightheaded and very relaxed. The session lasted about five hours, and during my psychedelic experience, I was able to understand many things about my life, including the conflicts with my brother, parents, kids, wife, ex-wife, and many other conflicts. After this experience, I knew that this was something I had to learn.

The benefit of this therapy is that the mushrooms will show you what you need to understand to be able to have a happier life. They help you to let go of sorrows, anger, and resentments that you don’t need, and that keep you from having a good life. The most important points in this therapy are the set and setting. The space you have in the therapy, and the intention you put in the session are the most important. The mushrooms can make you want to have a nice time and chill, or they can show you the truth about your well-being.

It is not always nice what we have to see, but I can assure you that it is one of the best and fastest healing processes that I know. It is a combination of healing our mind and our soul all in one.

If you are interested in living this process, please make sure the person doing this therapy is formed adequately, and that you do it in the right environment. The mushrooms will do the rest, and trust the process.
